Getting Accurate Data Through Drone Footage
Drone photos add another layer of information to your data sets. Advanced software is now capable of integrating drone photos with scanned data and compiling that information in the point clouds. Drone photography is especially helpful and beneficial when it comes to getting information about elements of a space that are hard to scan.
Let’s say you’re documenting the features of a very tall building. While the outside scans of the building have given accurate data, the roof is a part of the building those scans can’t accurately represent. A drone with a high resolution camera can photograph the roof section, typically taking photos every 5 seconds. The data from those photos can then be used to complete the point cloud, resulting in highly accurate and highly beneficial information.
