Scanning Hardware – Matterport, Leica Geosystems & Faro

Metrology Innovations uses scanners that are manufactured by Matterport (Pro 3D), Leica Geosystems (BLK360 scanner) and Faro (Faro Focus). All of our scanners are Type 1 laser scanners that hold varying degree of capabilities.

• The Matterport is used for close-space scans (ranging from 6 – 8 feet between scans).
• The BLK360 is used for scans with an average range (from 8 – 30 feet).
• The Faro is used for a longer scan accuracy (up to 60 feet).

Scanning Software

Metrology Innovations uses existing software functions of the Matterport (Pro 3D), Leica Geosystems (BLK360 scanner) and Faro (Faro Focus) scanners. The scanner software has the critical capability of taking the raw scan and combining the scans together into a digital image called a “point cloud.”

This point cloud can then be loaded into more traditional CAD and engineering design software, where the new design can be integrated into the existing site conditions.

The Matterport features a “Dollhouse” view that allows you to view the entire scanned property at once. From there you can switch to inside view to walk around in the scanned space as you choose.
